Understanding Google Search Console

google search console

Google Webmaster is an amazing tool, and if you are a serious blogger, you would never overlook the Google Webmaster’s tools because they give you complete information about how your site functions in Google Search engine.
The Search Console (aka Google Webmaster Tools) offers many tools that will let you analyze your blog actively. this analysis can help you work on problem areas to make your blog rank better in the Google Search engine.
search engine optimization is a gradual process that sometimes takes weeks
or months to get a proper search engine ranking.

How To Make Your Blog Search Friendly Using Google Search Console:
1. Submit Sitemap to Google
The first thing that you need to do is to sign in to search Console, add and verify your blog then you go ahead to generate a sitemap of your blog and submit
it via the Google Search Console. This will help Google crawl your site effectively, and you can keep track of how many links are being indexed by Google.
Are you yet submit your sitemap? Go submit your sitemap with the Google Webmaster Tool Now.

2. Webmaster Settings
The Webmaster Settings section access notification comes up after submitting your sitemap for the first time. This section enables you to configure some important things like;
“Geographic target”.
you set this up if your blog or service is limited to one particular region. You should configure the target settings for that region.
For example, if your blog focuses on just Nigerians, you can set the “Geographic target” as Nigeria but if your blog targets globally, leave it as is.

For the “Preferred domain”, you can skip this if you blog on WordPress, as WordPress takes care of preferred domain, but you can still use Google’s Webmaster Tools to configure this setting if you wish.

“Crawl rate” centers on how often you update your blog. You should let Google decide, depending on how often you update, you might want to edit this setting.

3. Manage Google Sitelinks
sitelinks are the pages from your site which Google finds useful. The pages you link to the most will define your sitelinks. Google displays these sitelinks on its Search results. Google sometimes adds less useful posts or pages as a sitelink.
Note: You can’t add links to be included in your sitelinks from here, Google does that automatically but you can block unwanted links.

4. Search Analytics
When it comes to maintaining your search engine ranking and improving it, finding the top ranking keywords is an most important aspect. The “Queries” feature of the Google Webmaster Tool will show you which keyword you are ranking for, your Google position, and a link to the post.

5. Keyword Ranking
It is important that you rank for the right Keywords instead of ranking for the wrong keyword . If you blog about cars you shouldn't rank for keywords like clothes, even though you are on the first page,  you are generating is useless. The Google Webmaster “Keywords” tool determines the keyword Google has found while crawling your site. If you are ranking for a wrong keyword, you should find the cause while trying to show related and useful keywords to the search engine.

There are many other tools like:
Website Speed
Internal Links
Crawl Errors, etc.
All these are equally important. Try to be more consistent on Google search Console to help boost your blog ranking..
