Why You Should BackUp Your Blogspot Blog Regularly

Blogspot, also known as blogger is a free blogging platform. BlogSpot is one of the top free blogging platforms with annoying standard but it comes with some limitations one of which is highly dreaded… deletion of Account without prior notice… Google owns absolute control of your blog. It has the right to delete your blog at any point of time. Although this happens when you use your blog for spamming or do activities which violates blogspot’s TOS. Probably that’s one of the reason it’s good to go for self hosted WordPress blog.

It’s advisable to constantly backup your blog posts, although you shouldn’t be expecting anything bad but it’s great, so you will be on the safer side. This is something you can do apart from following google’s guideline. At least it will help if something goes wrong with your blog in future, you can always restore your data and posts.




BACKING UP YOUR BLOG CONTENTS



Any BlogSpot blogger can completely backup their blog posts, comments and pages by using the export feature in their Admin panel. You will download your backup in an .xml file format, which can be stored in your local desktop or online. You should backup regularly depending on how often you update your blog. It could be a weekly or monthly backup.
It is also advisable to backup your blog template incase you want to revert to it in future. You should always take a backup of your customized blogSpot template at regulaly so that if your blog get deleted, you will still have your theme.

It is also recommended that you keep the backup files either on Google drive or on Dropbox, so you can access them from anywhere.
