How to Start A Self-Hosted WordPress Blog With Detailed Guide

There are a few things you need before you start your new wordpress blog.

1. You need a domain name idea ( like blogtrovert.com ).
Your domain matters a lot in building your online presence, thus, try as much a possible to choose the right domain. One that wouldn't lose value to you.
2. A web hosting account (Without this, you can't host your blog)
3. Your attention.

Creating a WordPress blog doesn't take the whole day and there are a few things to learn in here that would aid your blog creation and make it faster.  WordPress is free but to use it, you need to pay for a domain and a hosting plan.

A domain name roughly costs between $10 to $14.99 / year, and a web hosting costs $7.99 / month, depending on the webhosting company. sometimes, you can get a free domain from webhosting companies like bluehost, ipage and Hostgator.
If you have come up with a good domain name, you can go ahead to register it.

After purchasing your hosting plan, it is time to install wordpress In the cPanel, you will see lots of icons for different uses, services and features. You may never use 95% of them. your only concern there is getting WordPress installed to your new domain. Scroll down to find an icon called Install WordPress . This amazing software lets you install WordPress on your host with just a few clicks.

Once you click on the icon, you will be redirected to the Quick Install screen for WordPress. Click on the Get Started button. On the next screen, you will be asked to select your domain for installation.

 Choose the domain from the dropdown and then click Next.
After that, you need to enter your Site Name.

Then choose a username, and a password for your admin login ( use a complex username (not admin) and password). Check all the checkboxes and then click Install.

Once WordPress get installed, you will see the success notice. your unique login url is yoursite.com/wp-admin. this url gives you access to your admin panel. make sure you write down your username and password. 

Now that You've successfully installed WordPress you will need to install a beautiful new theme design. The default look on your blog isn't appealing so you need to change the look asap by logging into your admin panel via yoursite.com/wp-admin using your username and password.

There are thousands of pre-made WordPress themes that you can install on your site. Some are free while others are paid. You can change your theme by going to your WordPress dashboard and click on Appearance » Themes, then click on add new.

In here, use the search function to find a theme that suits your needs. There are tens of thousands to choose from. once you find a theme, you can install and activate it.

Now you are all set! You can start blogging on your new WordPress blog!
